In this tutorial, we will be going over how to remove the functionality of leaving a comment on your WordPress site. You might want to do this if you are running an eCommerce website and don’t want users to leave reviews for your products or have disabled comments on your blog post because spam was getting out of control. In any case, removing the “leave a reply” function from WordPress should come as no surprise since it had been around since WordPress version 2.7 back in 2008!

let’s get started

Step One: how to remove leave a reply in WordPress

Navigate over to the “Settings” tab on your WordPress dashboard. Once you are there, look for and click on the link labeled “Discussion”. This will lead you into another menu with various options about how comments work on your site. On this page, scroll down until you see the box that says “This blog does not allow comments.”

Click on this and it will take you to a page where, if there are any existing comments for your site, they will be deleted. You can also uncheck “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)” or check “Don’t allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks).”

Step Two: how to remove leave a reply in WordPress

Scroll down the page until you find “Other Comment Settings” and click on that. On this new page, there should be four options with checkboxes labeled as follows: “Allow people to post comments,” “Allow people to post comments as the author,” “Require commenters to be registered and logged in” with a checkbox for whether or not they are allowed to post comments anonymously.

Check whichever combination of these four that you would like and then click “Save Changes.”
